Accessibility Statement
BCU Innovation Labs is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we do to support accessibility
- All interactive elements have visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation
- A skip-to-main-content link is provided on every page
- All text meets WCAG AA colour contrast requirements
- The site uses semantic HTML5 with appropriate landmark regions
- Navigation, lists, and headings follow a logical, consistent structure
- Animations and transitions are suppressed for users who prefer reduced motion
- The mobile navigation menu is operable by keyboard and announces its state to screen readers
- All non-decorative content is accessible without reliance on colour alone
Known limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, this is a student-run programme with limited resources. We are aware of the following areas we continue to work on:
- Favicons and a web app manifest are referenced but not yet deployed
- We do not currently offer a high-contrast or large-text mode beyond browser-native controls
Feedback and contact
If you experience any barriers to access, or if you find content that is not accessible to you, please contact us on our LinkedIn. We take accessibility feedback seriously and will work to address issues promptly.
Technical information
This website is built with standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It does not rely on any JavaScript framework and is designed to be usable with JavaScript disabled for core reading of content (navigation will be degraded). It has been tested with keyboard-only navigation and reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria.
Enforcement procedure
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
